Oil on board, black and gold frame.
Painted en plein air, or "from life," this painting was created after a challenging descent to the beautiful Logan River in Utah. As I balanced my easel, paints, brushes, and panel among the sharp rocks, the warm afternoon sunlight illuminated the landscape with striking color and contrast. My friend Austin patiently posed for nearly 45 minutes while I studied the shapes, light, and colors before me. Although we didn't catch any fish that day, we both came away with a memorable sunburn—inspiring the title of this piece.
